A supportive secondary school in Coventry is looking for an enthusiastic Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity to share your subject knowledge, support students with their learning and develop valuable classroom experience.
What does the role involve?
Working alongside experienced teachers, you'll provide additional support to students across a range of STEM subjects. You'll help pupils work through challenging concepts, develop their problem-solving skills and build confidence in their abilities.
You may work with students 1:1, in small groups and within the wider classroom, giving you the opportunity to gain experience supporting learners with different abilities and needs.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group supportacross STEM subjects
- Help students develop their understanding of key scientific, mathematical and technical concepts
- Support pupils with problem-solving, practical activities and independent learning
- Assist teachers with classroom activities and differentiated tasks
- Encourage students to engage positively with STEM subjects
- Help learners develop confidence, curiosity and motivation
- Provide additional guidance to students who need support with their studies
- Work closely with teaching staff and the wider school team
- Share feedback on student progress where appropriate
Who are we looking for?
We're keen to hear from graduates with:
- A STEM-related degree, such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Computer Science or a related subject, ideally at 2:1 or above
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to explain ideas clearly
- A genuine interest in working with young people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, enthusiasm and a positive attitude
- Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable, but not essential)
Previous classroom experience isn't essential. We're looking for someone with strong subject knowledge, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in helping young people succeed.
