KPI Education is working with a supportive SEN school in Chester seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Graduate Learning Mentor to join their team from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate who wants to develop their understanding of learning, behaviour, emotional wellbeing and additional needs while making a genuine difference to young people's lives.
The Role
As a Graduate Learning Mentor, you will provide targeted academic, pastoral and emotional support to students with a range of Special Educational Needs.
Working alongside teachers, SEN professionals and the wider support team, you will help students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and develop greater independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEN.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Support students with their academic, social and emotional development.
- Help identify and address barriers to learning and engagement.
- Implement individualised learning and behaviour strategies.
- Support students with emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Encourage confidence, resilience and independence.
- Assist students with classroom learning, organisation and independent work.
- Monitor engagement, behaviour and progress.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other education professionals.
- Contribute to individual support plans and progress reviews.
- Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal Graduate Learning Mentor will have:
- A degree in Psychology or a related subject is highly desirable.
- Previous experience working with SEN is essential.
- Experience supporting children or young people.
- A genuine interest in child development, behaviour and learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, empathetic and calm approach.
- The ability to build strong relationships with young people.
- Confidence managing challenging situations professionally.
- A proactive and flexible approach to individual student needs.
- A genuine interest in progressing towards Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology or specialist education.
