The Role
As a Speech and Language Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). Working alongside teaching staff and specialist professionals, you will help children develop the communication skills they need to participate confidently in school life.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering speech and language intervention programmes under the guidance of the SENCO and Speech and Language Therapists
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with communication and language needs
- Supporting children with Autism, Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), Speech Sound Disorders, and other communication difficulties
- Encouraging language development through structured activities and classroom-based support
- Reinforcing specialist therapy strategies within everyday learning
- Monitoring pupil progress and recording observations to support individual learning plans
- Promoting confidence, engagement, and independence among pupils
- Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for children

To be considered for this role, you will:
