English Trainee Teacher KPI Recruiting Ltd Burnley, Lancashire, England

English Trainee Teacher | Β£26,761 Salary | PGCE & QTS | IMMEDIATE September Start | Burnley

We are seeking a motivated and academically capable individual to join our secondary school in Burnley as soon as possible this September, as a Graduate English Teaching Assistant, with a clear and structured pathway to full teacher qualification within 12 months.

Whether you are a recent English graduate taking your first career step, or a professional looking to bring your love of language and literature into education, this programme offers a credible, well-supported route into the classroom - without sacrificing financial stability while you train.

This is a time-sensitive vacancy and applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis. We are looking to interview and appoint immediately.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a salaried training position, not a traditional postgraduate course. You will start with us this September, becoming an active member of our English department from day one - observing, co-teaching, and progressively taking on full classroom responsibility as your confidence and competence grow.

By the end of the academic year, you will hold both a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), qualifications recognised by schools across England and Wales.

WHAT THE PROGRAMME OFFERS

  • A starting salary of Β£26,761, paid throughout your training year
  • PGCE and QTS achieved within 12 months
  • Placement within an Ofsted Outstanding-rated school with a 95% trainee success rate
  • A structured 4+1 weekly model - four days in school, with Wednesdays reserved for academic study and professional development
  • One-to-one mentorship from experienced members of our English department
  • Access to modern facilities, specialist teaching resources, and current learning technology

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

Our Burnley secondary school is well regarded for the quality of its English provision, consistently achieving strong outcomes at GCSE level. You will join a department that takes collaboration seriously and actively supports the development of new staff. Beyond core teaching, there are opportunities to contribute to reading and literacy clubs, academic competitions, and targeted student intervention programmes.

YOUR TRAINING YEAR AT A GLANCE

September to December - Structured observation and supported team-teaching. You will develop your understanding of lesson structure, classroom dynamics, and pupil assessment under close mentorship.

January to March - Increasing autonomy in lesson planning and delivery. You will begin to develop your own teaching style and build a working knowledge of assessment practice.

April to July - Independent classroom teaching, with a focus on refining your approach, strengthening classroom management, and completing your PGCE and QTS requirements.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • A university degree in English, English Literature, or a closely related discipline is required (2:1 or above preferred)
  • A clear commitment to education and a genuine interest in supporting young people's development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and maintain a high standard of professional conduct throughout the training year
  • Available to start immediately or at very short notice

A full UK driving licence is advantageous but not required. Burnley is accessible by public transport.

Due to the immediate start date, early applications are strongly encouraged.
