Alterations Machinist / Seamstress

Location: Bolton (In-Store)
Salary: Up to £29,300 per annum
Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Sunday (rota agreed in advance)

We are looking for an experienced Alterations Machinist / Seamstress to join our in-store team in Bolton. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with excellent sewing and garment alteration skills who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.

Working within a busy retail environment, you will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of clothing alterations, ensuring every garment is finished to the highest standard while providing customers with a professional and friendly experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out high-quality clothing alterations and repairs, including hems, waist adjustments, sleeve alterations, zip replacements and garment resizing.
  • Operate industrial sewing machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct customer fittings where required, taking accurate measurements and discussing alteration requirements.
  • Ensure all alterations are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Maintain exceptional attention to detail to achieve a premium finish on every garment.
  • Manage your workload effectively to meet customer deadlines.
  • Keep the alterations area clean, organised and compliant with health and safety standards.
  • Work closely with the wider store team to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
  • Provide advice and guidance to customers regarding alteration options where appropriate.

You\'ll ideally have:

  • Previous experience as an Alterations Machinist, Seamstress, Tailor or Garment Technician.
  • Excellent sewing and garment alteration skills.
  • Experience using industrial sewing machines.
  • A strong understanding of garment construction and fabrics.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple jobs at once.
  • A positive, customer-focused attitude.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
