We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Maintenance team in Blackwood, supporting a busy plastic injection moulding manufacturing environment. Working on a three-shift scheme, you will play a key role in maintaining the reliability, safety, and performance of production machinery and electrical systems.

The role is integral to maintaining efficient production, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement across the manufacturing site.

About the Role

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, fault-finding, and continuous improvement of electrical systems and plastic injection moulding machinery across the site. The position involves both preventative and reactive maintenance, equipment upgrades, installation support, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and engineering standards.

You will work closely with production teams, engineering colleagues, and external contractors to maintain reliable plant operation and minimise production downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct planned preventative maintenance on plastic injection moulding machinery, plant, and associated equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical breakdowns promptly
  • Fault-find and repair electrical control systems and production equipment
  • Carry out safety checks, inspections, and ensure safe working practices
  • Support equipment upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects
  • Maintain and repair electrical supply and distribution equipment
  • Assist with the installation, relocation, and removal of production equipment
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records
  • Assist with the procurement and management of engineering spares and stock
  • Work effectively across a rotating shift pattern
  • Collaborate with production, engineering contractors, and other site stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance

Essential Criteria

  • ONC in Electrical Engineering
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Time-served electrical apprenticeship
  • Strong industrial electrical engineering background
  • Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable Criteria

  • 18th Edition qualification
  • PLC experience and fault-finding knowledge
  • Experience with plastic injection moulding machinery
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Experience with industrial automation and control systems
