SEN Teacher (Primary or Secondary) in Enfield

KPI Education is working alongside a large specialist SEN school in East London to recruit an SEN Teacher for a full-time, long-term position starting in September. The school supports children and young people from Early Years through to Post‑16 and provides highly personalised education for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), speech and language needs, sensory differences and complex communication profiles. Teaching is delivered through a range of specialist pathways designed around each pupil’s individual learning needs, communication style and EHCP outcomes.

As an SEN Teacher, you will work within a multidisciplinary environment alongside specialist Teaching Assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and senior leaders to deliver meaningful, engaging and highly personalised learning experiences.

• Plan and deliver highly differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCP outcomes.
• Support pupils with Autism, communication difficulties and complex learning needs to achieve meaningful progress.
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet a wide range of cognitive, sensory and communication profiles.
• Utilise visual supports, AAC systems, symbols, Makaton and structured communication strategies where appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with therapists and wider professionals to ensure a joined‑up approach to learning and development.
• Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress using specialist assessment frameworks.
• Promote independence, emotional regulation, communication skills and social development.
• Contribute to annual reviews and EHCP target setting.
• Create a positive, structured and nurturing classroom environment where pupils feel safe and able to succeed.
• Build strong relationships with families and external agencies to support pupil outcomes.

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Has experience teaching within SEN, Autism, special schools, mainstream inclusion or alternative provision settings.
• Demonstrates strong knowledge of Autism and differentiated teaching strategies.
• Understands how to support pupils with communication and interaction needs.
• Can adapt lessons to support learners working significantly below age‑related expectations where required.
• Is passionate about inclusive education and improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
• Works effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Has excellent communication, organisation and behaviour management skills.
