An inclusive and welcoming primary school in Birmingham is seeking an ambitious and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join their leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEND practitioner to lead, develop, and enhance provision for pupils with additional needs within a thriving mainstream primary setting.

What is the role?

  • Lead and manage the school's SEND provision in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Identify, assess, and monitor pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Coordinate and review EHCPs, support plans, and interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure high-quality adaptive teaching and inclusive practice across the school.
  • Liaise effectively with parents, carers, and external professionals to secure the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Analyse SEND data and use it to inform strategic planning and provision.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to colleagues across the school.
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement planning and the school's inclusive ethos.

What are we looking for?

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • The National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO).
  • Experience working with pupils with a range of SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice, and EHCP processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • A collaborative and solution-focused approach.
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children with additional needs.
