The predicted salary is between 30000 - 42000 Β£ per year.

Pontefract (home of Butterkist popcorn) 3 x shift pattern - Days, Nights and Afternoons FTC until 31/12/2025.

As a Team Captain you will coordinate your team during the shift to ensure all essential tasks are completed and production targets are met. You will be responsible for ensuring the area and team comply with standards and procedures. You will spend around 80% of your shift working as a Team Member and about 20% of your shift supporting the team, by building capability, and looking for opportunities to eliminate losses. You will work closely with the Line Structure team to ensure the 90-day plan and breakthrough loss targets are achieved.

You will be the go-to person for the shift within your area and therefore you will have a positive and supportive attitude. You should lead by example and be the role model for your team and have excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the daily routines of your team of Operators within the line structure.
  • Lead and motivate a team of production workers to achieve daily production targets.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate the Operators within the line structure including personnel planning, shift allocation, annual leave as delegated by the Line Lead.
  • Deal with unplanned absences which occur on the shift, obtaining cover for the shift to operate safely and to meet the production plan.
  • Coordinate the members of the team regarding idle time, CILs (Clean, Inspect and Lubricate) and change over.
  • Lead the Shift DDS shift handover according to the standard. Initiate appropriate actions to fix issues directly during the shift and escalate to the line structure if necessary.
  • Participate in line DDS (morning & afternoon shifts) and escalate to Line Lead, Process Lead or Maintenance Lead any out of the ordinary aspects or more complex matters.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment would be an advantage.
  • No previous experience in line management is needed to be a Team Captain. This may be the first experience for someone to be a point person for a shift.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Encourages others with less experience or who need help.
  • Is positive even when under pressure.
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility.
  • Shows enthusiasm for learning.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts and weekends, if required.
