About the Role
We’re on the lookout for an experienced Electrical Controls & Automation Engineer to join our Ashby site. This hands-on role is perfect for someone with a strong background in electrical, controls, and instrumentation who loves solving complex engineering challenges and enhancing equipment reliability.
As a key technical specialist, you will:
- Support the diagnosis and resolution of electrical, controls, and automation issues across the site.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Technical teams to improve equipment performance and deliver automation projects.
- Ensure our systems remain safe, reliable, and future-ready.

Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Provide specialist EC&I support by leading the diagnosis and resolution of complex electrical, controls, instrumentation, and automation issues.
- Lead automation fault finding using PLC software and electrical schematics to identify root causes and prevent repeat failures.
- Improve equipment reliability by identifying opportunities to enhance performance and maintainability.
- Deliver automation projects from concept through to commissioning, collaborating with colleagues, suppliers, and contractors.
- Develop engineering capability through coaching and technical support, helping engineers enhance their skills.
What We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from you if you can bring:
- Electrical engineering expertise through an NVQ Level 3, Advanced Apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification, along with strong practical experience.
- Strong fault-finding capability with proven experience diagnosing issues in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- PLC and automation knowledge, including Siemens PLCs and experience with Siemens TIA Portal being advantageous.
- Controls and instrumentation experience with industrial control systems, sensors, drives, HMIs, and automated manufacturing equipment.
- Continuous improvement and project experience with a track record of delivering automation improvements and coaching others.
