Learning and Development Manager
KP Law is a specialist litigation boutique established in 2020 and focused on collective redress. With over 100 employees across offices in London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Liverpool, we represent more than 250,000 clients in areas such as product liability, competition, workers’ rights, data breach, privacy, and financial services. KP Law combines top legal talent with strong operational and technological platforms to deliver claimant‑centric litigation on a contingent‑fee basis, fully financed by the UK litigation funder Legatus Holdings.
As the Learning & Development (L&D) Manager you will design and deliver learning programmes that equip all employees with the skills and knowledge needed to perform their roles effectively and help KP Law achieve its organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with the Head of HR and Senior Management Team to design, deliver and embed a comprehensive L&D framework aligned to the firm’s Competency and Legal Skills Frameworks and business strategy.
 - Develop tailored development pathways for all staff across Legal and Operational teams.
 - Monitor the effectiveness of learning initiatives and continuously improve programmes based on feedback and outcomes.
 
Onboarding & Induction
- Further develop and coordinate the firm’s onboarding programme to ensure a consistent and engaging introduction to the firm’s culture, expectations, and systems.
 - Deliver induction training and ensure smooth transition of new joiners into the business.
 
Compliance & Risk
- Partner with Risk & Compliance to develop, deliver, and embed mandatory training across the firm.
 - Ensure compliance with Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Continuing Competence requirements, maintaining accurate records and monitoring completion.
 - Partner with Business Solutions to design and deliver engaging training programmes to support system adoption and digital skills development.
 - Work closely with the Adoption Manager to deliver structured rollouts for new platforms or features, ensuring effective change readiness and user adoption.
 
Lawyer & Trainee Development
- Partner with the Senior Management Team to evolve and deliver the Lawyer Development Programme, ensuring clear pathways for career progression.
 - Collaborate with the Training Principal to enhance and standardise the Trainee Development Programme across practice groups, ensuring consistency of experience and alignment to professional development standards.
 
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with Partners, Managers and staff to understand learning needs and drive a culture of continuous development.
 - Act as a trusted adviser on learning initiatives, emerging trends and best practices in professional development.
 - Manage L&D suppliers, contracts and associated budgets; drive value and maximise ROI on L&D costs.
 
Person Specification
- Proven experience in an L&D role within a law firm or professional services environment.
 - Strong understanding of SRA Continuing Competence requirements and professional training compliance obligations.
 - Track record of designing and embedding development frameworks and pathways.
 - Experience delivering engaging onboarding, compliance, and systems training.
 - Excellent facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage audiences at all levels.
 - Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence senior leaders.
 - Practical knowledge of L&D evaluation methods and data‑driven improvement.
 - CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above) or equivalent.
 - Experience supporting trainee solicitor development and working with a Training Principal.
 - Exposure to digital learning tools and blended learning approaches.
 - Experience in change management and supporting systems adoption.
