Role Description

The Executive Director is a full-time, hybrid role based in Greater London, with a mix of on-site and remote work. The individual in this position will provide overall strategic leadership, develop and implement organizational plans, and ensure that programs and operations align with the mission and long-term goals. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing budgets, overseeing financial performance, and ensuring regulatory and policy compliance. The Executive Director will lead, mentor, and support staff, foster a positive and inclusive culture, and coordinate with the board on governance, planning, and risk management. The role also involves building and maintaining relationships with funders, community partners, and stakeholders; leading fundraising and development activities; representing the organization at events and meetings; and preparing clear reports and presentations on organizational impact.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in senior leadership or executive management within a nonprofit, social enterprise, or mission-driven organization.
  • Strong strategic planning, organizational development, and change management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, oversee financial reporting, and ensure sound fiscal stewardship.
  • Skilled in people leadership, including coaching, performance management, and building inclusive, high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging boards, funders, partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Experience in fundraising, business development, or income generation (e.g., grants, major donors, corporate partnerships) is highly beneficial.
  • Comfort with hybrid working practices, including effective remote collaboration and use of digital tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in management, nonprofit administration, business, public policy, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • Ability to work legally in the UK and commute to Greater London as required.
