Overview

Orbia is hiring for an Assistant General Counsel – EMEA based in the UK, working hybrid (offices in Cheshire). Occasional travel to Cheshire offices is expected.

Main Purpose

Manage all legal support for Orbia’s Fluor and Energy Materials business operations in the UK and EMEA/India regions, supporting contract negotiations and regulatory initiatives, and collaborating with various business functions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the Orbia Polymer Solutions General Counsel with EMEA matters.
  • Work with the Fluor and Energy Materials General Counsel and law department colleagues on critical projects.
  • Oversee external legal counsel and manage related budgets.
  • Participate in law department projects and initiatives.
  • Support sales and procurement teams in contract negotiations and drafting.
  • Understand and lead regulatory initiatives applicable to the business.
  • Maintain a contract administration process and database.
  • Manage a real estate properties database.
  • Collaborate with other functions on transactions and projects.
  • Stay informed on UK and EU law changes and advise accordingly.
  • Report on contractual activity and legal fees.
  • Assist in implementing the compliance program and investigations.
  • Train staff on legal compliance and policies.

Qualifications

  • Law degree and admitted to practice in the USA, UK, or both.
  • 8+ years of legal experience, preferably with US-based multinational companies.
  • Experience advising manufacturing clients.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

Knowledge/Experience

  • Strong background in corporate and business law, with international experience.
  • Experience with commercial contracts and compliance programs.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or M&A is advantageous.
  • Excellent contract drafting and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of risk management and legal trends.
  • Effective communication skills.
