Equifax is seeking a Technical Product Owner who is a master at bridging the desires of the customer and the capabilities of the technology, removing barriers to software development. You will be responsible for grooming the product backlog and have insight into technical requirements of individual stories thus creating a more efficient user experience.
What you will do
- Connects with the Customer in partnership with Product Management - Know the customer & stakeholders: Understands the needs of the customers and stakeholders in a broader context; Develops partnerships with Engineering, QA and Architecture leaders; Understands the Problem(s) to be solved: Leads interviews with customers and stakeholders to gather their needs in a business context; Writes and reviews user stories to ensure they capture the customer needs for the development team, to be able to best define the approach to solve the problem; Develops whole product solutions: Develops a holistic understanding of the delivery increments and how the stories developed by the multiple squads work together.
- Contributes to the Plan and Roadmap - Solutioning and Estimation: Drives solutioning and epic decomposition process to groom the backlog of stories as well as initial t-shirt sizing sessions in partnership with engineering, architecture and QA leaders; Partners with QE partners to ensure testing approach and high level use cases are considered in the solution and estimation; Drives MVP definition with stakeholders when applicable; Dependency management: Drives the process to identify, capture and document dependencies required to deliver the plan in partnership with engineering and architecture teams; Partners with dependent teams to negotiate and align commitments around dependencies; Backlog Prioritization and planning: Leads and influences the process of initial estimates and value/effort assessment to define scope of quarterly increments in partnership with technology partners; Drives to the analysis of how work should be sequenced and the implications to the critical path.
- Manages & Prioritizes Team Backlog(s) - User Story creation: Has developed knowledge about story development best practices to write for own team(s), and can guide more junior POs in their evolution to a mature practice; Prioritization and sprint planning: Leads backlog grooming, prioritization, and sprint planning with Product Management and development team to ensure backlog stays groomed appropriate amount for the type of work conducted, capacity and velocity of team Accountable for the alignment with upstream dependencies to deliver; Testing and Acceptance Criteria: Leads discussions during sprint review to convey execution of team and alignment with acceptance criteria and readiness checklist for sign off; Signs off on Testing plan and approach; Provides final sign-off/acceptance of stories; Demos: Oversees the preparation and delivery of sprint and quarterly demos. Present demos to LT members.
- Getting and Applying Feedback & Lessons Learned - Captures feedback from Demos: Evaluate feedback value and determine implementation ability to incorporate into story elaboration and Product Management directed enhancements; Delivery Retrospectives: Velocity, quality (incidents/bugs), reasons for delays: Partners with technical leads and product leadership to decide the scope of improvements to be prioritized based on collected learnings; Monitors adoption KPIs: Partners with product leadership to determine potential changes in strategy or approach to address learnings from adoption KPIs; Adopts feedback in future iterations: Takes ownership and can represent the adjustments to the strategy, plan or approach given the collected feedback; Partners with delivery teams to drive the adoption of changes.
What experience you need
- Related product owner experience as a manager in a cloud-based and/or SaaS environment.
- Working experience leading large initiatives with Agile methodology, leading Agile ceremonies and Lean product management required.
- Working experience leading large initiatives with data structures, data analytics and AI concepts strongly preferred.
- Experience working with cross functional teams strongly desired; Team lead experience or demonstrated capabilities strongly desired.
- Exposure and experience understanding and driving capacity, accurately managing against the budget of product initiatives.
- Cloud certification strongly preferred.
