Role overview
We're hiring a Senior Product Designer to join Kota's Customer Platform team.
This is the heart of
Kota: the app where employers and employees interact with our health, pension, and insurance services.
The role will be an important addition to our team as we scale and there are several reasons to join now:
- Why join
- Own the Core Product - Your work directly impacts how our customers use Kota. You will be responsible for turning complexity into clear, intuitive flows and interfaces.
- Design Fast, Ship Right - Designing and writing is how we think together and drive product alignment.
You have to move at pace but don't lose quality as we start building and scaling.
- Craft-Driven Culture - We believe innovation truly happens when we push beyond "good enough".
From microcopy to complex web interactions, you will work with people that sweat the details and ship with care.
- Modern Design Environment - Work with cutting-edge technologies and tools to define the future of insurance UX.
- Autonomy and Ownership - We hire outstanding people and get out of their way. You will have responsibility from day one, with space to do your best work.
What You'll Do
- Own key web product areas from early concepts to shipped implementation
- Turn ambiguous product problems into clear flows, interfaces, and interaction models
- Raise the quality bar through design quality, critique, and thoughtful collaboration
- Use Cursor or Claude Code to prototype, build, and iterate through simple interfaces.
- Identify and design reusable components and patterns that improve consistency and speed across our Platform product.
- Partner closely with engineering to scope, design, iterate, and ship at high velocity
- Contribute to product thinking, the overall direction of our product, and growing our design culture, not just shipping new features.
You will be joining our design team early and working with our existing product designer.
Together, you will form the core of our design function for Kota's Customer Platform, collaborating to define the future of benefits and insurance.
What We're Looking For
- Experience as a product designer working on complex products, ideally in B2B, fintech, or other information-dense environments.
- End-to-end thinking and ownership, from big-picture systems thinking to the smallest interaction detail.
- Balance of speed and detail, knowing when to move fast and when to obsess over the last 1%.
- Proven experience creating, maintaining, and scaling design systems and thinking in ways to create reusable patterns and components across each product.
- Agency, ownership, and autonomy; someone who doesn't wait to be told what to do.
- Comfort working with AI tools like Cursor or Claude Code, even if you are not writing production-ready code.
- A portfolio that shows strong product thinking, interaction design, and craft.
Our Values
- Have Integrity. We care deeply about our why and it won't jeopardise our how.
- Care Deeply. Our products are our story, we look at the details, go the extra mile to delight customers.
- Own Your Ship. Ask why, do the work, get the data, solve the problem, be an owner.
- Raise the Bar. We continuously look to push past good enough. Expect more, move faster, and never stop raising your and the team's standards.
- Play to Win. We exist because we decided to say no to the norm - now we do this everyday.
And of course.... Your employee benefits!
- Health Insurance contribution via Kota
- Access to a Workplace Pension with matched contributions up to 5% via Kota
- WFH stipend to support your home office needs
- Group Life Assurance via Kota
- Generous Paid Time Off - work hard and take the time you need
- Annual, company-wide offsite
