Welcome to Koromiko Mākoha, a new kura in the growing community of Prebbleton, 20 minutes southwest of the Christchurch CBD. We are committed to establishing a culturally grounded, innovative learning environment under the caring mantle of Ngāi Te Ruahikihiki at Taumutu, while strengthening te reo Māori and tikanga Māori.

We want tamariki to grow up strong in who they are, deeply connected to where they come from, and inspired to contribute positively to the world around them. With a commitment to bilingual provision, we are creating a learning environment where culture, language, and identity are celebrated every day.

About the role

We have exciting opportunities for proven or aspiring team leaders eager to help shape the heart and culture of our new kura as part of our SLT. This is a unique opening to collaborate with a foundational team and design our curriculum from the ground up.

Alongside classroom practice, our team leaders will possess a passion for guiding others and the ability to build authentic partnerships with whānau and the wider community. If you are a collaborative, hardworking kaiako who puts ākonga first, is dedicated to an inclusive environment, and is committed to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and weaving te ao Māori naturally into daily practice, we want to hear from you.

While the kura does not open until the beginning of 2027, the start date for these positions is Term 4, Monday 12th October 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the founding team to design curriculum.
  • Lead and support classroom practice as a team leader.
  • Build authentic partnerships with whānau and the wider community.
  • Promote an inclusive learning environment and uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Qualifications

  • Proven or aspiring team leader experience in primary/intermediate education.
  • Strong leadership, collaborative, and mentoring skills.
  • Passion for guiding others and building partnerships.
  • Commitment to multicultural and bilingual provision, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and te ao Māori.
  • Ability to work as part of a senior leadership team.
