We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Power BI expert/Data Visualization Specialist to join our team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex Power BI solutions to meet the analytical needs of our organization, as well as advising on and maintaining our Power BI architecture and environment. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, create visually appealing and insightful reports and dashboards, provide expertise in data ingestion from various sources, data modeling, DAX calculations, data visualization best practices, and provide expertise in setting up Power BI workspaces, dataflows, client-facing applications, and automatic data publication and refresh processes. A key requirement will be helping to create a modular suite of dashboards for maximum configurability, scalability, and re-use.

A key outcome of your role will be working with this outstanding dataset to provide some of the best insights and data visualizations in the People Analytics space.

A strong understanding and sensitivity to the increasingly complex rules around data privacy and local data residency laws will be essential. Partnering with colleagues in other areas including IT, legal and our Digital colleagues will be critical to ensure we work towards a One Korn Ferry approach.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Power BI architecture, environment and dataflows
  • Establish best practices and standards for managing Power BI artifacts, including reports, datasets, and dataflows within workspaces.
  • Configure and manage dataflows to ingest, transform, and prepare data from various sources for analysis within Power BI.
  • Develop and implement strategies for automating data refresh processes to keep Power BI reports and dashboards up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to optimize dataflows and ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data refresh failures, performance issues, and other technical challenges related to Power BI datasets and dataflows.
  • Manage Power BI deployment pipelines for development, testing, and production environments.
  • Leverage Power BI REST APIs and PowerShell (or similar code environment) to automate CI/CD pipelines for deploying, configuring, and updating numerous dashboards at scale.
  • Communicate with data engineering teams on required data views to ensure clean source data / data transformations occurring at the right step of the BI pipeline.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop advanced Power BI reports, dashboards, and interactive visualizations that provide actionable insights and facilitate data-driven decision-making.
  • Design and implement efficient and scalable data models using Power BI Desktop and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
  • Write complex M query and DAX calculations to manipulate and transform data for analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Integrate Python and/or R scripts, and custom visuals into Power BI for data transformation and data visualization.
  • Optimize performance of Power BI reports and dashboards to ensure fast load times and smooth user experience.
  • Establish version control best practices using Git integration.

  • Create and maintain documentation related to Power BI solutions, including data models, calculations, and report designs.
  • Provide training and support to upskill other data scientists on how to improve their Power BI capabilities.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in Power BI and related technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance data analytics capabilities.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of experience in business intelligence and data analytics, ideally with 5 years of hands-on experience with Power BI.
  • Expertise in designing and developing complex Power BI reports and dashboards from scratch, with strengths in creating elegant, highly professional data visualizations.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and data integration concepts and experience building data models using Power BI Desktop and SSAS.
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing Power BI architecture, including workspaces, datasets, and dataflows.
  • Proficiency in Power Query M language and writing advanced DAX calculations and optimizing performance of Power BI solutions.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing data refresh schedules and automating data pipelines in Power BI.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets from multiple sources.
  • Experience working with Power BI gateways.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong self-QA and development testing ensuring accuracy of displayed visuals, data aggregation, and measure outputs.
  • Microsoft Power BI certification(s) preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, and Copilot in Power BI, ability to leverage AI tools to enhance workflows and outputs.
  • Familiarity with SQL and ability to query database and explore data table structure for seamless data integration to Power BI.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to manage client workspace deployment and access, and troubleshooting report errors as needed.
