Our client (Financial Services) is seeking a Fullstack AI Developer to join their Engineering team to help support immediate project delivery needs and to help shape the organisation's broader transition toward AI-assisted software engineering.
The successful candidate will bring a strong full-stack engineering background, practical cloud infrastructure capability, and a modern understanding of AI-driven development practices.
This position will be operating inside IR35, with rate ~ £600 per day, on an initial 6 month contract.
The role is hybrid working (1-2 days on site per week), with preferred location of Sheffield but London may also be possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions across frontend and backend services.
- Contribute to the delivery of key product and project milestones as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Build and support cloud-native solutions using AWS services and modern deployment practices.
- Apply AI-assisted development techniques to improve speed, quality, and consistency across the software development lifecycle.
- Contribute to specification-driven development approaches, helping translate business and product intent into structured engineering outputs.
- Support the adoption of modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Work closely with Product, Delivery, QA, and Platform colleagues to ensure solutions are robust, maintainable, and aligned to delivery goals.
- Identify opportunities to improve development efficiency through the practical use of AI tooling and workflow optimisation.
- Share knowledge with wider engineering teams and support the development of internal AI capability and confidence.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activity across engineering standards, tools, and delivery practices.
Essential Skills
- Strong experience in full-stack software development, with capability across both frontend and backend technologies.
- Proven experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular, or similar.
- Strong backend development skills, including API design and service-based architecture.
- Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Python, Node. js, Java, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native development, including relevant managed services.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and modern release practices.
- Good understanding of software engineering fundamentals including testing, maintainability, performance, and security.
- Experience working in agile product or project delivery environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
- Knowledge of specification-driven development approaches.
- Familiarity with LLMs and their practical application within software delivery.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automated deployment tooling.
