I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to support a major specialty insurance organisation in strengthening and maturing its Underwriting Governance framework.

Working alongside a new Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO), the successful candidate will be responsible for taking the underwriting mandate and operationalising it across the organisation.

The objective is to create a clear, consistent and robust underwriting framework across markets, ensuring brokers and other stakeholders have clear guidance on underwriting authorities, product requirements and controls.

This is initially expected to be a c.6-month programme, with further transformation work likely to follow.,

  • Operationalise the new underwriting mandate across the organisation.
  • Create and cascade a clear set of underwriting authorities.
  • Develop and implement product guidelines across individual markets.
  • Establish appropriate underwriting controls and processes.
  • Review and improve the existing product approval process.
  • Ensure underwriting governance is consistently applied across different markets.
  • Work with HR, Legal and other key functions to embed the required governance framework.
  • Identify gaps within existing underwriting processes and implement improvements.
  • Work closely with the CUO and senior underwriting stakeholders.
  • Manage delivery across multiple workstreams, ensuring activity is prioritised and delivered effectively.

  • Proven experience delivering underwriting transformation or governance programmes.
  • Experience creating or implementing underwriting authorities, mandates, controls or guidelines.
  • Understanding of product approval processes within insurance.
  • Experience working across multiple markets would be highly beneficial.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to operate confidently with senior leadership.
  • Strong process, governance and operational delivery experience.
  • Able to translate strategic requirements into practical, operational processes.
