Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, optimisation, and support of database solutions
- Own performance tuning, schema design, and stored procedure development
- Support database upgrades, patching, migrations, and decommissioning activities
- Ensure database solutions align with architectural, operational, and risk standards
- Provide technical leadership through design reviews, best practices, and mentoring
- Collaborate closely with engineering, architecture, and delivery teams
- Drive automation and consistency through scripting and CI/CD pipelines
- Support cloud-hosted database platforms and contribute to cost optimisation initiatives
- Ensure quality, stability, and maintainability across all database deliverables
Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and/or Sybase ASE
- Strong expertise in performance tuning, database design, and stored procedure development
- Experience supporting database upgrades and production environments
- Hands-on experience in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Exposure to RDS and/or PostgreSQL
- Strong scripting skills (PowerShell and/or Shell Scripting)
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab)
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
- Linux and/or Windows system administration experience
- Background in software development and Agile delivery environments
