Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Power Platform Developer to join a public sector organisation on a contract basis, leading the design, development and deployment of a low-code digital solution to improve business processes, governance and management reporting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering an end-to-end solution using Microsoft Power Platform technologies, enabling stakeholders to capture, manage and track outputs, actions, risks, opportunities, lessons learned and recommendations.

Working closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts and programme delivery teams, you will translate business requirements into practical, user-friendly technical solutions. You will take ownership of the development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through to testing, deployment, documentation and handover.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on developer who combines strong technical expertise across the Microsoft Power Platform with stakeholder management skills and the ability to deliver high-quality solutions within defined timescales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design, development and deployment of a digital solution using Microsoft Power Platform.

  • Develop Power Apps applications to support the capture, management and tracking of business outputs, actions, risks and recommendations.

  • Design and implement structured data models, schemas and information repositories.

  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports and visualisations to support management information and senior-level decision-making.

  • Configure Power Automate workflows, notifications, alerts and approval processes to improve governance and accountability.

  • Develop and maintain SharePoint Online Lists, Libraries and supporting Microsoft 365 components.

  • Engage with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather, refine and validate requirements.

  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, application designs and intuitive user interfaces.

  • Support Agile delivery through iterative development, demonstrations, design reviews and stakeholder feedback sessions.

  • Plan and execute testing activities, manage defects and ensure the quality and reliability of delivered solutions.

  • Produce technical documentation, user guides and handover materials.

  • Support deployment into live service, including knowledge transfer and transition to ongoing support.

  • Ensure solutions meet relevant security, information management, governance and technical standards.

  • Identify opportunities for future enhancements, scalability and integration with wider digital services.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience developing and deploying Microsoft Power Apps solutions within complex organisations, using Canvas and/or Model-Driven applications.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, including dashboard development, reporting and data visualisation.

  • Experience developing Power Automate workflows, notifications and approval processes.

  • Solid experience configuring and managing SharePoint Online Lists, Libraries and Microsoft 365 services.

  • Experience delivering Power Platform solutions throughout the full lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through to deployment and support.

  • Strong understanding of data modelling, information architecture and structured data repositories.

  • Ability to gather and analyse business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.

  • Experience working within Agile or iterative delivery environments.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complex business processes.

  • Experience with testing, quality assurance, defect management and user acceptance testing.

  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation, user guidance and handover materials.

  • Experience handling sensitive information and applying appropriate information management controls.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and presentation skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience working within public sector, government, defence or national security environments.

  • Experience managing outputs, actions, risks, recommendations, lessons learned or governance processes.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dataverse and advanced Power Platform capabilities.

  • Understanding of information governance, auditability and records management.

  • Experience implementing solutions in secure or sensitive information environments.

  • Familiarity with DevOps, release management and solution lifecycle management.

  • Relevant Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI or Agile delivery certifications.
