Contract: Permanent, Full-time, Subject to 3-month probation
Hours: 42.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday 0830 - 1800)
Position in Organisation: This is a hands-on role based on the production floor, where the supervisor works closely with the team on daily operations. The role sits within a growing food business producing items such as meat, dumplings and kimchi, and involves overseeing production while actively supporting the team to ensure quality, efficiency, and food safety standards are met. We operate a Monday to Friday, 5-day workweek, and the role offers good exposure to end-to-end production processes, with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement as the business continues to grow.
Reports to: Production Manager
Main responsibilities:
- Set up and oversee daily production operations, including equipment checks, calibration, and start-up procedures
- Prepare and handle raw meat, vegetable, and ingredients in accordance with production plans and recipes
- Lead and actively participate in production activities such as meat handling, marination, vegetable preparation, and packing
- Supervise and support production staff to ensure tasks are carried out efficiently and in line with production plans
- Monitor and adjust production processes to maintain product consistency, correct weights, and quality standards
- Load products into trays, pouches, or vacuum bags according to specifications
- Ensure all products are packed, sealed, labelled, date-coded accurately according to customer and company requirements
- Coordinate preparation of finished goods for dispatch, ensuring orders are completed correctly and on time
- Carry out quality checks and address any issues relating to product quality, packaging or labelling
- Ensure all raw materials and packaging used match production requirements and documentation
- Maintain and enforce high standards of food safety, hygiene, and compliance with company procedures and regulations
- Carry out routine cleaning of equipment, utensils, and work areas during and after production
- Support stock handling, including checking deliveries and storing raw materials correctly
- Use manual handling equipment safely and follow proper lifting techniques
- Carry out basic computer-based tasks where required (e.g. production records, label printing, or stock tracking)
Person Specification & Qualifications:
- Food Hygiene and Safety Level 2 and HACCP level 2 qualification is desirable
- Ability to commute to our site based in CR4 2JA
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Ability to speak Korean, Cantonese and/or Mandarin is an advantage, but not essential.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced setting
- Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues on the production floor
- Physically fit and comfortable working in a hands-on production environment
- Proven experience as a Production Supervisor or similar role who is looking to join a business where you can grow, train, and develop your team
- When needed, provide training, directing and supporting the team and improving its performance wherever possible
- Ability to produce reports on key production metrics
- Ability to liaise with various departments: inventory, technical and sales
