We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Employment Coach or Specialist to join Kooth and launch a first of its kind hybrid role! Providing employment support for young people aged 18 - 25 in the West Midlands as part of the West Midlands Supported Employment Programme – Connect to Work.

Splitting your time between 'on the ground' face-to-face support in the Birmingham area and working online as part of our adult online mental health team you'll deliver an integrated, holistic approach to the individual employment journey providing end to end support to young people. Based from home with the ability to travel independently across Birmingham, this brand new pilot role gives you the unique autonomy to shape the future of youth employment support at Kooth. Main responsibilities:

  • Offering F2F and Online Employment Support to Adults
  • To provide on-the-ground and online employment support to adults 18 - 25 years on their individual employment journey from vocational profiling to the point where they no longer require in-work support.
  • Work with individuals through the six key stages on a typical journey of outreach/referral; vocational profiling; action planning; job search activities (including working on a one-to-one basis with employers to match people with appropriate employment); job placement and coordinating support whilst in employment; managing withdrawal of support as the in-work support is no longer required.
  • To work as part of the wider online team with the MHPs on Qwell, providing a seamless pathway of support, both text-based online support and F2F on the ground support, to enable service users to explore, gain, and sustain competitive paid employment.
  • Provision of specialist employment coaching via online live forums and single-session support in text-based chat. Managing an average maximum active caseload of 20 - 25, some of whom have mental health support needs, to assist them in securing sustainable paid employment in line with their preferences.
  • Partnership and Stakeholder Relations
  • To build positive relationships with local employers to enable clients to move into suitable employment.
  • Engagement with employers to identify suitable opportunities, matching Participants to roles that reflect their skills and aspirations.
  • Offer flexible support and signposting to wraparound services, specialist provision and internal resources as needed.
  • Partnership working with Jobcentre Plus, local employers, NHS and social care services, education partners, and wider community stakeholders, to create pathways into work and deliver ongoing support to ensure job retention and sustainable outcomes.
  • Clinical administration
  • Maintain accurate records and case notes using Kooth-approved systems and processes.
  • Liaise with other professionals/services, either internally or externally, around safeguarding issues and concerns.
  • Performing all duties in line with relevant compliance, legal requirements and internal policies with particular reference to children, young people and adult safeguarding and protection, and data protection legislation.

Requirements

Essential

  • Employability skills and experience and expertise in supporting people through the employment journey including basic mental health support.
  • Previous Supported Employment experience or Supported Employment trained in either Individual Placement and Support (IPS) and Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) fidelity models.
  • NVQ Level 6 or equivalent qualification in Careers Education and Guidance, Youth and Community work or Social Care.
  • Labour Market Intelligence: In-depth knowledge of the local and regional labour markets, including growth sectors, employer needs, and available training opportunities.
  • Experience of supporting people to obtain or keep work.
  • Proven experience of meeting and exceeding outcomes and targets.
  • Demonstrable experience managing a caseload of individuals with complex needs and multiple barriers, guiding them to achieve sustainable employment outcomes.

Desirable

  • Degree in a relevant subject such as social care, mental health, counselling, social work, psychology or equivalent professional qualification; Or Qualified by experience with significant demonstrable professional training in Mental Health support and engaging people around emotional well-being or mental health difficulties.
  • Experience/understanding of working with people with mental health support needs, or a similar client group within health, social services or the voluntary sector.
  • Direct or indirect experience of supporting those with disabilities, health conditions or complex barriers to employment.
