The Maintenance Engineer will support manufacturing to ensure that machinery issues are dealt with whilst working safely at all times and drive improvements to production efficiencies, maintenance and improvement programs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Follow all Safe Systems of Work and procedures including all first use inspections of any equipment, use of PPE and isolation and lock off.
  • Ensure contractors work safely and follow all our procedures and agreed method statements.
  • Report any near miss incidents, hazards occurring at any time or defective equipment.
  • Report any accidents (including damage to fabric equipment) and support investigations.
  • Don’t use machinery you’ve not been trained to use.
  • Follow all quality procedures e.g. hand back of equipment to production.
  • Work in a tidy and controlled manner be vigilant and ensure no engineering debris enter the food packing processes e.g. count bolts/screws in and out and keep in magnetic tray.
  • Ensure all tool boxes are tidy, no wooden tools present.
  • Ensure all solvents are controlled and managed and used appropriately at all times.
  • Use vision to accurately record engineering work completed on breakdown.
  • Ensure changeovers take place to agreed timescales and ensure lines deliver performance targets with the production teams.
  • Ensure you see lines running well to have knowledge when they are not.
  • Complete PM and installation tasks to the correct standards.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement by recording and logging improvements you have made – work with the production teams to design out repeat failure issues.
  • Plan ahead and minimise impact of changeovers and engineering work.
  • Ensure all engineering stock transactions are recorded and that there are no stock run outs due to poor communication.

  • Ability to work accurately and methodically.
  • Good numeracy and IT skills.
  • Ability to plan and organise work.
  • Good understanding of customer deliverables and impact of failure.
  • Flexible approach to duties and tasks.
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements.
