I am working with an independent building consultancy with a strong reputation across the education and public sectors. With around 40 staff split between their London and Oxford offices, they combine the energy and pace of a London practice with the close knit, supportive culture of a smaller firm. The Oxford team, currently 15 strong, is busy and expanding steadily, delivering high-quality work for some of the most prestigious institutions in the UK.

A significant proportion of their work - approximately 45% - is for University of Oxford, alongside projects for University of Cambridge and other leading clients. Schemes are predominantly within Oxford's ring road, offering an excellent work-life balance with minimal travel. Project values typically range from £1m-£15m (and sometimes beyond), with a strong focus on higher education and complex refurbishment schemes.

The practice operates across the full spectrum of building surveying services, with around 70-75% of instructions being project led. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is either recently chartered, actively working towards chartership or passionate about APC support with clear ambitions to progress.

The Role & Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Delivering project-led building surveying services across higher education and public sector schemes
  • Managing refurbishment and new build projects from inception through to completion
  • Acting as Employer's Agent and/or Contract Administrator
  • Preparing specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation
  • Undertaking contract administration and overseeing works on site
  • Client liaison, particularly with university estates teams and repeat institutional clients

The Person:

  • Intermediate Building Surveyor passionate about APC support or already working towards chartership
