Konker is recruiting for an Architectural Technician to join a growing, design-led studio of 16 people, currently expanding and hiring across several roles. Based on the outskirts of Birmingham, the work is fast-paced and varied, centred on hospitality, commercial spaces and brand rollout projects, offering exposure to a wide mix of live schemes. This is a business investing in growth, not backfilling, and it shows in the workload and opportunities.
You’ll be responsible for producing detailed technical and working drawing packages, supporting planning and building regulation submissions, and coordinating closely with consultants, contractors and local authorities. Projects are interior-led and delivery-focused, so accuracy, organisation and clear communication are key. Surveys, site visits and resolving technical queries all form part of the role.
The studio operates on a hybrid basis, blending home working with time in the office to keep collaboration strong. You’ll work alongside experienced designers and technicians in a structured but non-corporate environment, with the trust to manage your own workload and the support to keep developing technically. The pace is busy, but well-managed. With multiple hires planned, this is a chance to join an established practice at the right moment, stable, well-sized, and building for the future rather than standing still.
Salary: £30,000 – £45,000 (depending on experience)
Benefits:
- Hybrid working that’s genuinely flexible (3 days in the office)
- Regular salary reviews linked to contribution
- Pension and everyday health support
- Practical lifestyle perks rather than gimmicks
- Enhanced holiday allowance plus a Christmas shutdown
- Ongoing CPD and development support
- Socials that feel natural, not forced
What they’re looking for:
You’ll need strong technical drawing experience within a design-led environment and confidence working across planning, building regulations and coordinated packages. Exposure to hospitality, retail or commercial interior projects will be a clear advantage.
