Building a sustainable tomorrow

KierBAM are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and BAM. BAM UK & Ireland's Infrastructure segment are currently delivering the redevelopment of an area within a Royal Navy dockyard located in Plymouth and are seeking a Digital Manager, who will lead the application of information management and digital construction.. The role ensures that digital methods are used not only for coordination and compliance, but as practical tools to improve constructability, sequencing, safety, quality, productivity and right-first-time delivery on site.

Working closely with project, engineering, construction, planning, commercial and commissioning teams, the role will embed digital outputs into day-to-day delivery, including 4D planning, digital rehearsals, workface planning, installation support, field data capture and handover. The postholder may lead people and teams in a first-amongst-others structure and will champion effective, secure and proportionate use of digital technology.

Due to the site being within a high Security Naval base, additional security checks will need to be satisfied for this role, with BPSS level security clearance being a requirement, which can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and have been a UK resident for the last 5 years can be considered for this role.

Making Possible

  • Manage project digital workload, resources and activities on and off site to meet client and delivery requirements.
  • Act as a trusted digital construction and information management adviser to clients, project leaders, delivery teams and stakeholders, translating requirements into effective plans, controls and solutions.
  • Implement the project digital strategy in line with BAM standards and approved technology, driving continuous improvement, standardisation and industry best practice.
  • Lead BIM and digital construction activities to support safe, efficient, right-first-time delivery across planning, sequencing, logistics, temporary works, installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Support 4D planning and digital rehearsals using Bentley Synchro or approved equivalents, linking programmes and federated models to improve constructability, sequencing, safety and programme certainty.
  • Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to improve buildability, interfaces and workface planning, ensuring coordinated, assured and site-ready digital outputs.
  • Champion field BIM and digital tools, including tablets, reality capture, digital quality assurance, asset tagging and site data capture.
  • Lead information management in accordance with ISO 19650, BAM standards, Exchange Information Requirements (EIRs) and agreed project procedures.
  • Manage Project and Asset Information Models, ensuring information integrity throughout construction, commissioning and handover.
  • Manage Common Data Environments (CDEs), including workflows, permissions, assurance, user support, secure sharing, storage, archiving and disposal.
  • Develop and coordinate key information management documentation, including EIRs, Responsibility Matrix, Mobilisation Plans, Master Information Delivery Plans (MIDPs), Task Information Delivery Plans (TIDPs) and ISO 19650 deliverables.
  • Manage federated 3D models and delivery/handover formats, including COBie where applicable, applying validation and assurance processes to maintain data quality.
  • Deliver digital construction and information management training and drive BIM adoption across teams, stakeholders, subcontractors and supply-chain partners.
  • Assess supply-chain capability and ensure fabrication and installation models meet programme, construction and information requirements.
  • Manage digital risks, opportunities, change and commercial impacts, supporting planning and commercial teams with model-based information and 5D forecasting.
  • Reduce rework through clash avoidance, coordinated information, constructability reviews and assured site-ready information.
  • Support safety planning through digital visualisation of construction methods, access, logistics and risks before work starts.
  • Coordinate ISO 19650 audits and assurance activities, addressing non-compliance promptly.
  • Work with Digital Support and IT to mobilise, configure and maintain secure, fit-for-purpose digital systems throughout the project and asset lifecycle.
  • Produce reports, analysis and forecasts for project leadership, communicating across commercial, legal, procurement, planning, engineering, construction, quality and commissioning teams.
  • Promote compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, security, legal and company requirements.
  • Apply practical expertise in Revit, AutoCAD, Solibri, Bentley Synchro, ProjectWise and Datascope, or approved equivalents.
  • Manage interfaces between digital software, field technology and project information systems, supporting model authoring, coordination, validation, 4D simulation, CDE management, site data capture and 5D forecasting.

What do you bring to the role?

  • Demonstrable leadership within a multi-disciplinary project or construction team.
  • Proven experience working in live construction environments and supporting site delivery teams using BIM and digital outputs.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience on construction projects or facilities management contracts, with a focus on Digital delivery and information management.
  • Practical understanding of construction sequencing, logistics, temporary works coordination, package management, subcontractor interfaces, installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Experience applying BIM to solve construction-stage problems, rather than solely supporting design coordination.
  • Strong working knowledge of the ISO 19650 series and experience producing, implementing or assuring associated information management deliverables.
  • Good management, planning and written and verbal communication skills, with proven efficiency in time management and achieving agreed outcomes.
