As a Junior Field Service Engineer, you'll gain hands-on experience installing, maintaining and supporting advanced manufacturing equipment at customer sites across the UK, developing the skills needed to become an experienced and confident Field Service Engineer within a specialist industry. This role offers a structured development pathway, giving you the opportunity to build your technical expertise while gaining hands-on experience with advanced equipment and technology in the field, while you grow your skills and make a real impact for customers. This is a field-based role with approximately 80-90% travel across Yorkshire and occasional overnight stays when supporting larger customer projects.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the installation, maintenance, repair, relocation and dismantling of Kongsberg cutting systems at customer sites
- Assisting with fault diagnosis and troubleshooting to help resolve technical issues efficiently
- Delivering operator training and guidance during installations and service visits
- Supporting machine installations and representing Kongsberg at industry exhibitions and events
- Building strong relationships with customers and understanding their operational requirements
- Providing remote support to customers and colleagues when not travelling
- Completing service reports, expenses and other administrative documentation
- Continuously developing your technical knowledge across our machines, software and accessories
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with technology and learning new skills. You’d be a great fit for the role if you have:
- A qualification in electronics, mechanics or a related engineering discipline
- Previous experience in an engineering, maintenance or technical support environment, although this is not essential
- Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with customers
- A practical approach to troubleshooting and problem solving
- A willingness to travel extensively as part of a field-based role
- A full UK driving licence
