Geolocation and Cell Site Technical ManagerLocation: Agile, North Shields (expected to move to Cobalt Spring 2027)

Salary: £42,861–£49,716 (Band 9)

Hours/Contract: 37 hours per week, Permanent

Northumbria Police invites applications for the role of Geolocation and Cell Site Technical Manager. The incumbent will lead the development and maintenance of geolocation and cell‐site policy and procedures to support ISO 17025 and Forensic Science Regulator accreditation for all Cell Site, Geolocation and Radio Frequency Propagation Survey (RFPS) work across the force.

What You\’ll Do

Quality manage RF surveys and reports where needed.

Develop and maintain geolocation and cell site policy and procedures for accreditation and compliance, fulfilling scrutiny by UKAS and the Forensic Science Regulator.

Plan and prepare for UKAS inspections and ensure delivery of accreditation.

Work closely with RFPS technicians and analysts to ensure accredited processes are evidentially sound, deliverable, workable and not unduly burdensome.

Ensure that all methods falling under ISO 17025 have been validated and verified as fit for purpose.

Maintain consistent quality and timeliness of work, carrying out regular quality checks to ensure professional integrity.

Support the Quality Manager to ensure audits are carried out when required.

What You\’ll Bring

Accredited and practising RFPS cell site expert with knowledge of cell site analysis and geolocation.

Understanding and experience of the Forensic Science Regulator Code of Practice and ISO quality standards.

Wider understanding of criminal investigation, digital forensics, communications data and analysis is recommended.

Able to plan effectively, allocate tasks, mitigate risks and meet customer requirements.

Demonstrated highest levels of integrity and accountability, willingness to work flexibly, travel across the country and attend regular CPD to maintain accreditation.

Ability to work effectively within a small team and with stakeholders in line with force values and professional standards.

Demonstrable experience in writing detailed reports for a non‐technical audience.

Full, current driving licence or access to suitable mobility support.
