Location: Forth Banks Police Station Custody Suite, Newcastle

Hours: 7 hours per week, 2pm – 5.30pm Saturday and Sunday

Contract: Permanent

Role Salary: £12.87 per hour (plus a Real Living Wage supplement and weekend enhanced payment)

The role

This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Business Services Department as a Cleaner. Our Business Services team keep things running smoothly for all of us here at Northumbria Police. They are a large team covering various services, including maintenance, health and safety, and supporting Front Line Policing.

What will I be doing?

  • Using specialist equipment and chemicals to clean washrooms and kitchens.
  • Vacuuming and mopping floors.
  • Use of floor machines will be required such as floor scrubber/dryers.
  • Emptying bins and other general cleaning duties.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of health and safety legislation and complying with cleaning safety standards.

This is a physical role which also requires working at height. This is a really important role in our Police Force, so we are looking for someone who takes pride in what they do. You don’t need to have been a cleaner before; you just need a willingness to learn, the ability to work alone and as part of a team. It’s also essential that you have a reasonable level of fitness and that you are punctual and reliable.

The recruitment process will consist of the initial application form followed by a face-to-face interview. We’ll also be able to hold interviews on a weekend, just to give you more of an opportunity to attend. Terms of appointment

This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period. If you are successful in your application, you will have a six-month probation period with us where you will be unable to apply for any other post advertised internally or externally.
