We are recruiting a Crane Service Engineer / LOLER Inspector to join our team based in northeast Scotland (Aberdeen/Dundee). The role involves the maintenance, repair and upgrade of customers’ lifting equipment and carrying out LOLER inspections of overhead gantry cranes. This is a multi‑skilled and diverse position, with varied work so that no two days are the same. The role reports to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on electric overhead travelling cranes.
- Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns.
- Consult with customers on repair and safety‑related issues.
- Complete appropriate documentation through your mobile device.
- Complete the schedule of monthly inspections, surveys and studies of overhead gantry cranes, ensuring planned works are completed.
- Inspect equipment, document findings and make corrective recommendations to the customer.
- Consult with the customer regarding all production and safety‑related issues and discuss recommendations that assist the customer with improving their material handling applications.
- Apply the contents of LOLER & PUWER or industry regulations.
- Complete inspection and consultation service reports, discussing production or safety issues and customer feedback received.
- Apprentice‑trained (or equivalent) and conversational with electrical engineering disciplines.
- Mechanical knowledge.
- Experience working with overhead cranes and hoists is preferred; maintenance, repair and servicing of industrial equipment is essential.
- Experience inspecting lifting equipment, including visual inspections.
- Hold LEEA qualifications or equivalent.
- Experienced in carrying out LOLER & PUWER inspections and completing written reports and statutory certifications.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Personable with regular customer contact.
- Health & Safety awareness.
- Ability to work at height.
- Hold a current driving licence.
- A competitive basic salary with an OTE of £55K‑65K (includes basic salary, paid travel time and paid overtime).
