We are recruiting a Modernisation Technician to join the Modernisation Team. This role reports to the Project Manager (Mods) and will cover the United Kingdom and Ireland. Within the Modernisation team, we work alongside the Branches to help deliver large modernisation projects, ranging from installing new gantry cranes to complete overhauls including new panels, electricals, trolley units, inverter upgrades, waste crane festoon replacements, hoist general overhauls, WTE upgrades and mechanical upgrades. We cover the whole UK & Ireland and all offshore islands, providing an excellent opportunity to expand your skills and participate in exciting projects. Flexible UK location.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Delivering large modernisation works across the UK.
- Working away for extended periods.
- Liaising with the project manager/engineer/site supervisor and the customer, ensuring every job is delivered to the highest standard.
- Making safety a priority.
- Working within a team.
- Consulting with customers before/during, and after projects.
- Carrying out commissioning of plant and complete handover.
- Completing appropriate documentation throughout each project.
- Maintaining good self‑management.
Qualifications
What we are looking for in you:
- Apprentice-trained or equivalent and conversant with electrical engineering disciplines.
- Mechanical knowledge.
- Availability for a 39‑hour per week schedule, Monday to Friday (with weekend overtime earning double time).
- Good command of the English language.
- Personable, as there is regular customer contact.
- Health and Safety awareness.
- Computer literacy, as reports will be needed after every installation.
- Willing to work away for long periods.
- Ability to work in a close team environment.
- Ability to self‑manage.
