At KONE, we shape the future of cities. As a global leader in the lift and escalator industry, we provide innovative solutions across lifts, escalators, automatic doors, and maintenance and modernisation – adding value throughout a building's entire lifecycle.

We're currently looking for a Lift Engineer Improver to join our team in East Anglia. What's an Improver? Someone with the right attitude, some hands-on or technical foundation, and the drive to learn - but who isn't fully qualified yet. Think of it as the stage between: Apprentice (learning basics), Improver (building practical competence), Qualified Engineer.

As a Lift Service Improver, you'll support experienced engineers in delivering planned maintenance, minor repairs, and safety inspections across a variety of lift systems. Spending your time out on site, you'll shadow service routes, assist with fault finding, and gradually take on hands-on maintenance tasks, learning how to work with different lift types, control systems, and components. You'll help prepare tools and equipment, complete basic service documentation, and play a key role in keeping systems running safely and efficiently.

This is a development-focused role where you'll build strong technical skills, gain a solid understanding of industry safety standards, and work towards your NVQ3 in Lift Engineering, with a clear pathway to becoming a fully qualified, independent engineer.

What we're looking for:

  • Some experience within the lift industry or a relevant engineering background
  • A willingness to learn and develop within a hands-on role
  • Full UK driving licence

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary depending on experience
  • Company van and fuel card, plus parking apps for business use
  • Paid travel and overtime
  • 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays + 1 volunteering day
  • Access to a wide range of flexible benefits, including dental insurance, private medical cover, GymFlex membership, and exclusive KONE discounts

Please note: this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. At KONE, we are focused on creating an innovative and collaborative working culture where we value the contribution of each individual. Employee engagement is a key focus area for us and we encourage participation and the sharing of information and ideas. Sustainability is an integral part of our culture and daily practice. We follow ethical business practices and seek to develop a culture of working together where co-workers trust and respect each other and good performance is recognized. In being a great place to work, we are proud to offer a range of experiences and opportunities that will help you to achieve your career and personal goals and enable you to live a healthy and balanced life.
