By the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll be a fully qualified Lift or Escalator Engineer, ready to take the next step within KONE.
What you’ll do
As a KONE Apprentice Engineer, you’ll gain real, practical experience, including:
- Hands‑on learning: Shadowing and working alongside experienced engineers on‑site
- Maintenance & installation: Supporting the maintenance or installation of lifts or escalators
- Servicing & fault finding: Learning how to diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Customer interaction: Working professionally with customers and site contacts
No two days are the same — and every day you’ll be learning something new.
Practical information
- Working Week: Monday - Thursday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. On Friday from 8:00am – 3:00pm.
- Hours of work: 38 per week.
- Duration: 42 months.
- Start date: 7th of September 2026.
- Level: Level 3 Engineering maintenance technician Apprenticeship standard and appropriate NVQ3.
- Salary: starting at ÂŁ17,534.02, with annual increases subject to performance.
- Training is work‑based, primarily at customer sites, so you must be prepared to travel. Travel to and from customer sites takes place outside standard working hours.

We offer apprenticeships across various locations in Great Britain: Central London, West London, Heathrow, Keighley, Gateshead, Warrington, Glasgow, Basingstoke, and Bristol.
