Role: Mental Health & Specialist Trainer
Location: Telford Head Office (Occasional travel to our Leeds office)
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Reports To: Training Manager
Salary: £35,000 Per annum
Hours of Work: 9.00am – 5.00pm Mon – Fri

Purpose of the role:

We are committed to delivering training that empowers staff and professionals to provide safe, person-centred care. We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Mental Health & Specialist Trainer to design and deliver engaging, high-quality training programmes that strengthen our teams\’ ability to support individuals with complex mental health and social care needs.

This role goes beyond raising awareness; it equips our workforce with practical skills and confidence to manage real challenges. Training will cover areas such as:

  • De-escalation strategies
  • Support the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans
  • Managing ligature risks
  • Understanding substance and alcohol misuse and associated risks
  • County lines and youth culture
  • Neurodiversity and high-risk challenging behaviours

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, interactive training sessions (face-to-face and virtual) for staff, managers, and professionals.
  • Provide specialist training in de-escalation techniques, PBS, ligature awareness, safeguarding, county lines, and substance misuse.
  • Support staff with service user-specific training pre- and post-admission, ensuring consistency and person-centred care.
  • Facilitate post-incident debriefs, embedding lessons learned into future training.
  • Equip staff with the confidence and skills to safeguard clients and respond effectively to complex risks.
  • Ensure training content is up to date with legislation, best practice, CQC, Ofsted standards, and sector trends.
  • Evaluate and adapt training to continuously improve effectiveness.
  • Assess workforce knowledge and competencies during training sessions, ensuring learning outcomes are met.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance by ensuring all learners complete mandatory and specialist training.
  • Sustain excellent learner feedback by delivering engaging, high-quality training that colleagues value.

Qualifications & Experience:

You are an engaging and confident trainer who thrives on equipping others to make a genuine difference. You bring:

  • Proven experience/demonstratable experience delivering training in mental health, ADHD, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Neurodiversity
  • Experience in alcohol/substance misuse
  • Expertise in behaviour management, county lines, youth culture, adolescence
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, attachment theory, MCA, and safeguarding frameworks
  • Practical experience in mental health, social care, or nursing (RMN/RNLD desirable)
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, adaptable to diverse audiences
  • Confidence discussing complex safeguarding issues
  • A collaborative, values-driven team player
  • A genuine passion for transforming lives through care

Essential Qualifications:

  • Recognised teaching/training qualification (e.g., CET, PTLLS, Level 3 Award in Education & Training, or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge and/or practical experience in mental health, learning disabilities, and behaviour management as a trainer

About You – Qualifications & Experience:

You are an engaging, confident trainer with:

  • Experience delivering training in mental health, ADHD, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Neurodiversity, alcohol/substance misuse, behaviour management, county lines, youth culture, trauma-informed care, attachment theory, MCA, safeguarding, and DoLs
  • Knowledge of restraint reduction techniques (e.g., PRICE), conflict resolution, and trauma-informed approaches
  • Practical experience in mental health, social care, or nursing (RMN/RNLD desirable)
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, adaptable to diverse audiences
  • Confidence discussing complex safeguarding issues
  • A collaborative, values-driven approach

Qualifications:

  • Recognised teaching/training qualification (e.g., CET, PTLLS, Level 3 Award in Education & Training, or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge and/or practical experience in mental health, learning disabilities, and behaviour management
