The Kompan aftersales department provides on-site inspections, repairs, full refurbishments, and maintenance on any manufacturers’ equipment, even those who have ceased trading. We are looking to recruit a Playground Inspection & Maintenance Engineer with experience of playground maintenance and repair. This role offers the opportunity to join a well-established, growing UK organization focused on delivering ongoing play inspection and maintenance to our ever-growing existing client base.

As an inspection and maintenance engineer you will be required to carry out operational inspections and minor repairs in playgrounds across the central region of the country (Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, West Midlands), with regular visits to our central storage facilities to obtain and store parts.

Responsibilities
  • Complete operational inspections and risk assessments as specified in BS EN1176 using the Play Inspection Company APP or other software the company may choose.
  • Ensure inspections provide all necessary information for accurate repair quotations, including measurements, quantities, manufacturer details and photographs.
  • Ensure inspections are always undertaken efficiently, considering local conditions such as weather, traffic, and local events or holidays.
  • Contact customers as required to advise on inspection date and time.
  • Maintain effective communication with the office.
  • Identify opportunities for larger repair and refurbishment works.
  • Occasionally undertake basic corrective repairs, provided you have appropriate tools and equipment available in your vehicle or nearby.
  • Carry out repairs to an exceptional standard as per the job specification.
  • Ensure vehicle stock is replenished as needed by requesting replacement items based on usage to avoid out-of-stock situations.
  • Provide a stock take of vehicle stock upon request.
  • Manage stock at the northern storage facility and provide stock updates as requested.
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve the efficiency of the role.
  • Provide support and training to other staff members as required.
  • Maintain all tools, equipment and PPE in good condition, and request replacement items or repairs as needed.
  • Wear company‑branded workwear at all times (workwear will be provided).
  • Clearly display ID badge.
  • Comply fully with the company’s code of conduct at all times.
  • Maintain your vehicle in line with the company car policies.
  • Undertake additional training when required.
  • Always act safely and wear all appropriate PPE for the task (PPE will be provided).
Experience
  • Experience working within construction, maintenance or service engineering environments, with good customer service and communication skills.
  • A problem solver with practical skills in woodworking, surface repair, painting and mechanical repairs.
  • Ability to work on own initiative to a high level of accuracy and to meet deadlines.
  • A self‑motivated individual who continually keeps abreast of industry and safety requirement changes.
  • Basic IT skills – use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to travel daily; a full clean driving licence is required.
  • RPII operational inspection qualification (training will be considered for the right candidate).
  • Enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
