The Role
IGV (It\βs gone Viral) are seeking a Content Editor with experience as a journalist or reporter who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom environment. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of media law, and a strong track record of delivering a wide range of trending, entertainment or lifestyle stories at a national or regional title, while understanding what works for a digital audience.
You should have first-rate writing, subbing and editing skills, and relish the test of working under pressure and to tight deadlines. You\βre social media savvy with current SEO knowledge and you\βre familiar with newsroom analytics and content management systems such as Wordpress. You\βre flexible, passionate and know what makes a great story
Key Responsibilities
- Write original, trending, and evergreen articles for the IGV website, including packaging content with engaging headlines, captions, and thumbnails.
- Pitch unique story ideas, conduct interviews, and proactively monitor emerging news, gossip, and trends.
- Identify compelling stories for the audience, with a focus on creativity and original storytelling.
- Manage and schedule content across multiple social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, Pinterest, and Threads.
- Edit and proofread content for accuracy, grammar, and style, while contributing innovative ideas to enhance team output.
What We\βre Looking For
- A journalistic background with newsroom experience.
- Outstanding writing, research and fact-checking skills.
- Previous experience in a similar role target-driven and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- A high standard of written English.
- A university degree in Journalism, Media or Broadcasting and/or NCTJ- qualified.
- Experience in social media, with a strong knowledge of Facebook, Instagram and X.
- Experience scheduling and posting content via Facebook, Instagram and X.
- Experience packaging articles β creating captions, titles and thumbnails to generate traffic.
- Experience working as part of a team with strong teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of journalism law and ethics.
