KOMAN Government Solutions, LLC (KGS), a wholly‑owned 8(a) subsidiary of the Natives of Kodiak, is an Alaska Native Corporation that provides environmental investigation, remediation, munitions and explosives support, operations and maintenance, long‑term monitoring, and construction services to federal, state, and private‑sector clients. We have an immediate need for a Senior Environmental Project Chemist to support our diverse portfolio of DoD, USEPA, and private sector projects. The position may be full‑time or part‑time and is hybrid, reporting to either the Marlborough, MA or Exton, PA office, with remote candidates also considered.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal contact for all chemistry‑related activities and manage internal chemistry support requests.
- Mentor and oversee the part‑time data validator and additional chemistry and data validation staff.
- Assign work, review chemistry and data validation products for accuracy before client submission.
- Manage laboratory products and determine when validation assignments must be subcontracted; monitor subcontract compliance.
- Support proposal development, including laboratory selection, pricing requests, and competitively priced scopes of work.
- Prepare chemistry portions of UFP‑QAPPs and ensure work plans identify analytical methods, preservation, bottleware, and QA/QC sampling.
- Resolve client or regulatory comments on chemistry plans and reports.
- Coordinate laboratory procurement and sampling events; audit laboratory operations as needed.
- Review laboratory data reports for completeness, correctness, and conformance with UFP‑QAPP requirements.
- Validate data following DoD and USEPA guidelines, reviewing junior staff reports.
- Manage analytical data in NIRIS, USACE databases (FUDSChem, ERPIMS, EDMS), and state databases.
- Implement and monitor corrective actions.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Environmental Chemistry (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of experience supporting federal projects.
- Expertise in chemical data quality management of environmental analytical data with industry‑standard procedures for verification and validation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ideal Candidate
- Commercial environmental analytical laboratory experience.
- Experience validating data against DoD QSM requirements for explosives, perchlorate, PFAS, PCBs, and other methods.
- Experience on DoD, USEPA, and federal state agency projects.
- Experience directing and mentoring junior staff.
