We are offering both full & part-time contracts and flexibility, but the role does entail late nights and weekends, in line with the operational timings.
The House of KOKO is expanding our Kitchen Brigade and we are looking for motivated and passionate Commis Chefs with experience in a quality-driven, high-end kitchen environment. Our unique members' club and venue brings together three restaurants and eight bars, each designed to deliver a distinct and memorable dining experience. This is a junior role suited to someone who has already been exposed to professional kitchen standards and is now looking to build their skills further within a premium, creative and fast-paced environment.
Working closely with our Chef de Parties, Sous Chefs and Head Chefs, you will support daily kitchen operations while continuing to learn, develop and progress within the department. At KOKO, we celebrate culture, music and hospitality, and we're looking for chefs who take pride in their craft and enjoy delivering experiences beyond expectations.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day kitchen operations by assisting senior chefs with food preparation, service and post-service tasks.
- Prepare ingredients and components in line with recipes and guidance, using fresh, seasonal produce and high-quality ingredients.
- Assist in cooking and presenting dishes to the standards expected in a premium, high-end kitchen environment.
- Follow instructions closely while developing speed, consistency and confidence on the line.
- Maintain a clean, organised and professional workstation, adhering to food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards at all times.
- Support smooth service by communicating clearly with senior chefs and responding positively to direction during busy periods.
- Assist with stock handling, including checking deliveries, rotating produce and storing ingredients correctly to maintain quality and reduce waste.
- Help ensure all kitchen equipment, tools and back-of-house areas are cleaned, maintained and ready for service.
- Follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules, completing tasks thoroughly and accurately.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability and a strong work ethic during all shifts.
- Actively engage in training, tastings and learning opportunities, showing curiosity and commitment to developing culinary skills.
- Support the wider kitchen team as needed, contributing to a positive, respectful and collaborative working environment.
About you:
We are looking for a junior chef with some prior experience in a high-quality or premium kitchen environment, who brings the following:
- Previous experience working in a professional, high-end kitchen as a Commis Chef or similar role.
- A genuine passion for food, quality ingredients and hospitality.
- A strong willingness to learn, develop and take on feedback.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and professional kitchen standards.
- Strong organisation and attention to detail.
- A positive, team-focused attitude with good communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced service environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and varying shifts.
