We are currently seeking a competent Building Control Surveyor to lead on BSA/Building Regulations PD compliance. Our projects encompass high value master plans, varied stand-alone major commercial schemes, and multi-million pound developments.

This is a great opportunity to work within a well established and highly respected organisation on projects across commercial, healthcare, education, residential, industrial, and manufacturing sectors. Building Inspector registration is not critical.

Department: Professional Services

Hybrid / Remote Working: The position will be a hybrid role, with a flexible working arrangement to suit the current climate. You must be prepared to work flexibly from the Warrington office when required. Ideally you will live within commuting distance of the office, but this is not imperative given the flexible/hybrid conditions we offer. You will be expected to work on projects both locally and nationally and to travel when necessary.

Reporting to: Head of Professional Services

Conditions: Salary and conditions to be agreed. Corporate training and professional development support will be made available. You will show a current and ongoing commitment to achieving annual CPD requirements and will provide details of your training record annually upon request.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • To lead on the Building Regulations and BSA Principal Designer role, and to contribute as part of the CDM team.
  • Advising design teams, clients and developers on the building regulations and the new procedural requirements implemented through the Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Delivery of BSA / BR Principal Designer function for select projects.
  • Initial engagement with clients running through their scope of work and how the project will be approached.
  • Attend Building Control partner workshops and lead on behalf of the business.
  • Track deliverables and production of monthly reports to clients.
  • Conduct 1-2-1 technical review sessions with Designers.
  • Lead the implementation and ultimate development of company policies, systems, and training standards in respect to The Building Safety Act and related Building Regulations.
  • Engage with and provide oversight in respect to the company’s building control partners and agree clear scopes for their work.
  • Conduct regular catch ups across projects to ensure delivery of the correct service; set up and implement a project tracker to ensure the business is hitting compliance and scope.
  • Support the business’ Quality and Compliance Coordinator in relation to existing or future accreditations, providing input on strategy, templates, and process.
  • Assist with recruiting and onboarding new members of staff.
  • Support retained clients.
  • Statutory documentation and information requested by regulator through gateway programme.
  • Drop ins to client offices to offer Building Regulations project health check sessions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience within building regulations or similar industry.
  • MIRCS, MCABE or CIOB membership or equivalent.
