The Executive Director of Business Development will be a strategic business partner responsible for leading sales efforts toward developing and expanding new business opportunities within our target segments while leveraging and maintaining existing business. This individual will be responsible for leading a team of North American Business Development Directors responsible for growing and maintaining strategic accounts while supporting the development of operational solutions that deliver on our clients’ commercial strategy. This position steers the overall growth initiatives, securing key strategic partnerships, and driving substantial revenue growth. Success in this role is measured by the ability to lead a high-performing team, achieve significant sales and market expansion targets, and contribute to the company's leadership position in the industry.

The estimated hiring range for this role is $200 - $240k plus applicable bonus. This hiring range is specific to the US and will vary for other regions based upon local market data. Final salary is ultimately decided upon taking into account a wide range of factors, including but not limited to: skills and experience, licensure and certifications, education, specific location, and dynamic market data. Benefits vary by location and may include:

What we look for:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing or a related field.
- At least 8 years’ experience required in business development and/or sales and marketing in a contract research organization (CRO), pharmaceutical/biotechnology.
- At least 3 years as a manager or above preferred.
- Proven track record in managing a process-driven, proactive sales organization.
- Proven track record in winning new business contracts and growing existing accounts.
- Experience in strategic partnerships and complex contract negotiations.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles of drug discovery and drug development.
- Strong understanding of commercialization, deal terms, and conditions associated with various models of drug development.
- Working knowledge of ICH and other regulatory guidelines.
- Extensive knowledge of clinical research practices, including clinical monitoring, data management and reporting, and information technology as it relates to data capture and processing systems as well as of business development activities with respect to the CRO/pharmaceutical industry.
- Salesforce experience required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required as well as the ability to work within a rapidly-growing company and entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong presentation skills (to prepare and deliver high-quality capabilities and sales presentations).
- Experience with proposal development, contract negotiation, and closing a contract.
- Ability to learn quickly and assimilate the details of project requirements.
