BASIC FUNCTION
Supports the Hull manufacturing plant, partnering with the Hull production management team to deliver their planned manufacturing margin. In respect of Hull operations, responsible for providing accurate product standard costs, detailed analysis of operating variances and support in managing inventory ensuring necessary provisions are in place. Regular attendance (including via Teams) at the Hull monthly Plant Capability meetings including presentation of the financial update at the meeting. In respect of the Trays & Wall Panels category, responsible for detailed manufacturing margin analysis, providing financial insight into planned actions and developments within the category and co-ordinating the annual financial plan preparation and standard costs for the category.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for developing and analyzing both annual and individual standard costs, continuously improving and implementing consistency of standard cost accounting at the Hull manufacturing plant in accordance with Kohler Co policies and practices.
- Provide support to the Hull manufacturing plant to give insight and clear understanding of financial performance, interpreting and communicating operating variances in a straightforward manner using Kohler Co. methodologies.
- Responsible for the development and co-ordination of financial plans and forecasts for the Hull manufacturing plant.
- Working closely with the Hull management team to provide support and analysis and ensuring consistency of approach and delivered in a timely manner.
- Provide financial support to the Hull management team in identifying and calculating the financial justification for the Capital Plan submissions and individual ACT submissions.
- Responsible for ensuring adequate and fully reconciled balance sheet provisions relating to Hull Operations and other allocated balance sheet accounts in line with Kohler Co. Policies and Accounting Standards.
- Ensure all information reported is in accordance with Kohler reporting formats and design attributes. The information is to be made available to both internal and external auditors, the business and Kohler Co. on a timely basis.
- Perform Financial Reconciliations at year end stock takes and provide support to the business during the stock take process at the Hull plant and offsite storage locations used by that plant.
- Perform month end activities and completion of internal month end reporting packages in line with reporting deadlines, providing insight and understanding of financial performance and look to continuously improve the operations financial processes from a quality and productivity perspective.
- Prepare the monthly Purchase Price Variance analysis for Hull.
- Support the Supply chain team in investigating and reporting variances.
- Co-ordinate the annual material standard cost setting process.
- Attain Super-user status in knowledge of the SAP Standard Costing process, provide such support & assistance as is required to cover the costing requirement of the Cheltenham and NDC sites.
- Build strong relationships with the business at all levels as relevant.
- Build trust with the teams you support and show continuous support in producing accurate, timely information.
- Develop strong relationships with relevant members of the US teams and SSC teams, to bring best practice into the Mira Operational Financial processes.
- Be a resource for others. Coach / mentor others in accounting methods and share Kohler Co. policies and knowledge with less experienced analysts.
- Assist non-financial readers in interpreting results.
- Mentoring and coaching of Junior Analysts.
- Maintain the highest level of honesty and integrity.
- To undertake Ad hoc activities as requested.
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS
Supervisory Relationships: Reports to Financial Controller - Operations K&B UK
Organisation Relationships: Operations - all levels through to director, emphasis with Hull management team. Co-operates with Internal Audit in the execution of specific responsibilities. Co-operates with other Kohler Personnel in the execution of specific responsibilities. Works closely with SSC, Corporate and Global Faucets business accounting personnel.
External Business Relationships: Works with External Auditors.

Skills/Requirements
- 1-3 years in Finance / Accounting Role.
- Studying for membership of one of the following professional financial certifications: AAT, CIMA, ACCA, ACA.
- Has demonstrated the ability to be an active team member in both cross-functional and Finance teams.
- Ability to mentor less experienced associates.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- A self starter and a positive can-do attitude.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to prioritise work effectively.
- Proficient in the use of EDP systems (building to Super-user knowledge of the SAP Standard Costing system) as well as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
