As a Senior Design Engineer based in Staffordshire (hybrid, two days on site), you’ll guide concepts into robust, manufacturable products for a well-known UK brand. Scope of the Role:
- As a Senior Design Engineer, you’ll add technical judgement early, then own delivery through manufacture.
- Develop products from concept to manufacture.
- Assess feasibility, trade-offs, risk, and delivery routes.
- Produce CAD, drawings, BOMs, and documentation.
- Apply DFM across plastics, metals, and assemblies.
- Engage UK and international suppliers through sampling and pre-production.
Key Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven Senior Design Engineer, Product Design Engineer, or Mechanical Design Engineer on physical consumer products.
- End-to-end NPD, from early concept to release.
- Strong DFM judgement, cost/quality trade-offs, supplier collaboration.
- Communicate trade-offs clearly to non-engineers.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and field insight when useful.
Salary and Benefits:
- £65,000 – £70,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
- Hybrid working: minimum two days per week in Tamworth.
- UK and international supplier travel when needed.
