Scope of the role
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer leads mechanical development from concept to manufacturing handover across client programmes and internal R&D. Drive complex mechanisms, assemblies and detailed SolidWorks CAD. Produce drawings with GD&T, tolerance analysis and documentation. Apply ISO design controls; contribute to risk management files. Prototype, test, iterate, and support DFM with suppliers. Mentor juniors and coordinate multidisciplinary inputs.
Key skills and experience required
- Proven experience as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer or Mechanical Engineer.
- Medical device experience with plastics and mechanisms design.
- 5–10+ years; expert SolidWorks, complex assemblies and surfacing.
- Injection moulding, DFM, tolerance stacks, FEA and simulation exposure.
- Degree or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering; clear, decisive communicator.
Salary and benefits
£60,000–£65,000 basic salary. Paid overtime; time off in lieu available. Flexitime with core hours 10:00 to 15:00. 22 days' holiday, rising to 25.
