Position Summary The Business Systems Analyst is a digitally fluent member of the business, responsible for data systems. This will include managing these systems, defining how they can be best utiltisied by the business, identifying and implementing improvements and obtaining and transforming complex datasets into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making. This role requires a proactive professional capable of navigating diverse data sources while maintaining rigorous data governance and accuracy. Acting as a critical link between technical teams and business stakeholders, the Business Systems Analyst tools and cross-functional collaboration to optimise reporting, automate workflows, and enhance data-driven performance across the organisation. Profile Use exceptional analytical and communication skills to translate systems data into meaningful business insights. You must quickly understand the operational and strategic requirements of stakeholders, including data structures, reporting needs, and performance metrics. Respond with agility to evolving business questions, ensuring outputs are accurate, scalable, and supported by a clear and auditable data trail. In order to ensure the output is useable/ relevant/ can be interpreted, and both practical insights and recommendations made, the individual must have recent operational experience - preferably customer facing. Key Responsibilities Manage the full lifecycle of systems and data analysis from requirement gathering to dashboard delivery and ongoing optimisation Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using modern BI tools Oversee data flows across systems, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with professional standards Collaborate with business stakeholders to define KPIs and translate them into scalable reporting solutions Partner with IT teams, and others, to ensure reliable data pipelines and infrastructure Analyse trends, patterns, and anomalies to provide actionable insights that support business performance Deliver real-time or near real-time reporting solutions where required Identify opportunities to automate reporting processes and improve efficiency Ensure data integrity by identifying and resolving discrepancies within datasets and reporting outputs Support the development and maintenance of data models and semantic layers Provide ad hoc analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making Skills and Competencies Degree educated; ideally in an IT related topic, or a discipline with a significant data slant e.g. engineering, accounting/finance 5 years of experience within operations Extensive experience in business systems- with expertise in at least one of BI, CRM, D365, and the willingness and ability to develop expertise in systems where expert knowledge is not held within a short period of time; self-starting approach with a drive to learn new tools, technologies, and methodologies Advanced Excel skills High-level organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple data projects simultaneously, for multiple stakeholders Confident communication style. Essential: ability to present complex data to non-technical stakeholders Ability to thrive under pressure and manage competing priorities Strong analytical thinking and data-driven decision-making capabilities Experience with data modelling and data warehousing concepts Working Environment Hybrid/remote Travel on a very infrequent basis e.g. 2 times per year This job description is provided as a guide to the main duties and responsibilities of the role.
