Position Summary
The Business Systems Manager is a digitally fluent member of the business, responsible for data systems - predominantly CRM and BI. This will include managing these systems, defining how they can be best utilised by the business, identifying and implementing improvements and obtaining and transforming complex datasets into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making. This role requires a proactive professional capable of navigating diverse data sources while maintaining rigorous data governance and accuracy. This hands-on operating Manager will be a critical link between technical data teams and business stakeholders, ensuring cross-functional collaboration to optimise reporting, automate workflows, and enhance data-driven performance and growth across the organisation.
Profile
We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Manager with a strong blend of technical, analytical, and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing enterprise business systems, delivering system enhancements, and driving data-driven decision-making through reporting and analytics. The candidate should be capable of managing, organising and handling data and also configuring, developing, and supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM solutions and/or leading Business Intelligence initiatives that provide actionable insights across the organisation. The individual would be responsible for the use of a co-source partner with BI/reporting expertise, with a view to shifting away from a co-source model to manage the data environment fully in-house. They will be comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and translating business requirements into results. As an operating Manager, the individual will generate outputs from the system and not simply oversee/manage.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, develop, and maintain D365 CRM solutions, workflows, customisations, integrations, and automations according to business needs
- Manage the organisation's Business Intelligence environment, including dashboards, reporting frameworks, and data visualisation solutions
- Oversee data flows across systems, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with professional standards
- Ensure data integrity by identifying and resolving discrepancies within datasets and reporting outputs
- Partner with IT teams, and others, to ensure reliable data pipelines and infrastructure
- Identify opportunities to automate reporting processes and improve efficiency
- Support the development and maintenance of data models and semantic layers
- Manage the full lifecycle of systems and data analysis from requirement gathering to dashboard delivery and ongoing optimisation
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to define KPIs and translate them into scalable reporting solutions
- Analyse trends, patterns, and anomalies to provide actionable insights that support business performance
- Deliver real-time or near real-time reporting solutions where required
- Provide ad hoc analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making
Skills and Competencies
- Degree educated; ideally in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Technology, or a similar related discipline, with 10+ years of business systems experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM administration, configuration, and development and/or Business intelligence administration, configuration, and development; preferably both
- Experience developing customisations using Power Platform, Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, plugins, workflows, and integrations
- Strong understanding of business process analysis, requirements gathering, and solution design
- Advanced Excel skills
- High-level organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple data projects simultaneously, for multiple stakeholders
- Self-starting approach with a drive to learn new tools, technologies, and methodologies
- Confident communication style. Essential: ability to present complex data to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to thrive under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Strong analytical thinking
- Excellent spoken and written English.
Hybrid/remote. Travel on a very infrequent basis e.g. 2 times per year.
