The Metals CFO team within KM&T is seeking a contribution-minded Analyst to join the Middle Office in a role that spans both Metals Product Control and Metals Operations. In this role, you will partner with traders, operations, and finance to generate trusted, actionable insights on positions, P&L, risk, and working capital—helping the business make better decisions, identify opportunities, and reduce friction across the trade lifecycle.

You will develop a deep understanding of how the full trade lifecycle fits together (from execution through settlement, margining, and reporting), and you will use that understanding to improve controls, increase transparency, and scale capability through better data and automation.

  • Business Partnership & Commercial Insight: Partner with traders and commercial leaders to explain drivers of P&L and positions, highlight key risks/themes, and improve decision‑making across daily, monthly, and quarterly cycles. Provide insightful, decision‑useful analysis that helps the desk understand performance, exposures, and key market/portfolio dynamics. Build credibility as a trusted partner by connecting financial outcomes to commercial actions, and communicating clearly across trading, finance, risk, and operations.
  • Controls & Financial Integrity: Strengthen the integrity of the trading book through balance sheet substantiation, ensuring positions, accruals, inventories/warrants, and margins are understood, explainable, and appropriately controlled. Identify control gaps across trade capture, valuation, and operational processing; propose and implement improvements that reduce errors, rework, and operational risk. Support accurate and timely close processes by proactively resolving breaks, challenging anomalies, and escalating issues with context and solutions.
  • Trade Operations & Lifecycle Execution: Ensure operational processes (settlements, reconciliations, contract administration, margining, warrant/physical processing, and client services) are executed in a way that protects value, reduces risk, and supports growth. Partner with operations and commercial teams to prevent issues before they occur (e.g., margin shortfalls, settlement failures, documentation gaps), improving reliability and client outcomes.
  • Transformation & Continuous Improvement: Drive a continuous improvement mindset: identify bottlenecks and manual work and deliver scalable automation/process enhancements that free time for higher‑value analysis. Contribute to projects and change initiatives that expand capability—new products/structures, new reporting needs, or improved operational and financial workflows.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Skills & Experience: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field. Strong analytical and numerical skills; comfortable working with large datasets and reconciling complex positions. SQL, Python, or VBA experience is a meaningful advantage.
  • Personal Qualities: A self‑starter who takes ownership without waiting to be directed. Naturally curious — driven to understand why, not just how. Sharp critical thinker who implements sustainable solutions, not workarounds. Clear, confident communicator across trading, finance, and operations. Genuine interest in markets and a desire to build deep expertise in metals and commodities.
