We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical proprietary SHFE Arbitrage Trader to identify, develop, and execute arbitrage strategies across the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) and global base metals markets, including LME and COMEX. This role requires deep expertise in metals trading, strong quantitative capabilities, and the ability to operate decisively in fast‑paced market conditions.
What You Will Do
- Design, back test, and implement arbitrage strategies focused on SHFE and related instruments.
- Analyze market microstructure to identify cross‑exchange and cross‑contract arbitrage opportunities, including calendar spreads, inter‑month trades, and LME‑SHFE basis strategies.
- Monitor daily profit and loss (P&L), manage risk exposures, and ensure adherence to margin and position limits.
- Maintain accurate trade capture, position reporting, and post‑trade reconciliation; contribute to automation and process improvements.
- Prepare daily market insights, trade rationales, and periodic performance reports for senior stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and maintain robust internal controls.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- 4–8+ years of experience trading metals (copper preferred), with a demonstrable track record in arbitrage trading and consistent P&L generation.
- Strong understanding of SHFE contract specifications, delivery mechanisms, warehousing systems, margining, and Chinese market microstructure.
- Advanced quantitative and analytical skills, including experience developing statistical arbitrage models and conducting rigorous strategy validation.
- Familiarity with electronic trading systems, order management systems, and real‑time market data feeds.
- Proven risk management expertise, including experience with VaR, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English required, Mandarin strongly preferred.
