KO2’s client, an innovative electronic product development company based in St Albans, is looking for a hands-on Electronics Test Engineer to support the validation and performance optimisation of their hardware products. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys practical lab work, investigating circuit performance, analysing test data, and improving product reliability. You’ll play a key role in ensuring electronic designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory expectations before reaching production.
The Role
As an Electronics Test Engineer, you will be responsible for validating electronic designs and supporting the improvement of hardware performance. Working closely with design teams and suppliers, you will review schematics, perform hands-on testing, and develop structured validation processes to ensure products are robust and production-ready. You will act as the technical link between design intent and real-world performance, identifying potential risks and recommending practical engineering improvements.
Core Responsibilities
- Review electronic schematics and PCB layouts to identify risks and opportunities for improvement
- Test and validate LED drivers, battery systems, power stages, and microcurrent circuits
- Develop structured validation plans and repeatable hardware test procedures
- Design and build simple test rigs and fixtures to measure real-world performance
- Analyse test data to identify faults, inefficiencies, or reliability issues
- Provide clear technical feedback and recommendations to design and supplier teams
Experience & Skills
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in electronics engineering or hardware testing
- Strong understanding of PCB schematics, layouts, and circuit functionality
- Knowledge of LED drive circuits, constant current regulation, and low-power electronics
- Experience reviewing Li-ion charging and protection circuits
- Confident using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies
- Comfortable interpreting technical documentation and component datasheets
- Strong analytical and fault-finding skills with the ability to translate findings into practical engineering recommendations
- Mandarin language skills are desirable
