Are you a hands-on sensing specialist with a genuine passion for sensor technology and the science behind it? We're working with an innovative technology business in Dagenham to find a talented Sensor or Chemical Sensing Engineer to join their engineering team as an individual contributor, embedded within a close-knit group of mechanical and electrical engineers.

The Role

This is a focused specialist position for someone who has spent the last 5-7 years getting deep into sensing, VOC detection, and chemical sensing technology. You'll be working on the integration of sensors into hardware devices and supporting data analysis of the outputs -- because the best sensor specialists know that understanding the data is inseparable from understanding the sensor itself. You won't be expected to lead R&D functions or manage large teams. This is about technical depth, not breadth of management experience.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Integrating gas, VOC, and chemical sensors into mechanical and hardware devices
  • Working across sensor types including MOX, electrochemical, and PID
  • Supporting data analysis of sensor outputs
  • Collaborating with mechanical and electrical engineering colleagues
  • Applying your expertise across a wide range of sensing applications (industrial, diagnostic, agricultural, and beyond)

What We're Looking For

  • Solid experience with gas sensing, VOC profiling, or chemical sensing technology
  • Practical exposure to multiple sensor types and their characteristics
  • Comfort working with sensor-generated data and some sensitivity for data analysis
  • Experience integrating sensors into real-world hardware products
  • Background could span diagnostic, agricultural, industrial, environmental, or similar domains

Why Apply?

This is a genuine opportunity to apply specialist knowledge in a focused role, within a business that values deep technical expertise. You'll have the space to do what you do best, working alongside talented engineers on meaningful sensing challenges.
